Join AWG for our February program and celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Iditarod! Katherine Keith, Debbie Moderow, Kristin Knight Pace will read from their riveting books and engage in a panel discussion on the craft of memoir and adventure writing.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Katherine Keith

Katherine Keith is a wilderness athlete, experience junkie, spiritual questor, long-distance dog musher, and mother, who lives above the Arctic Circle in Kotzebue, Alaska. She documents her life in the memoir Epic Solitude: A Story of Survival and a Quest for Meaning in the Far North She is a small business owner, rural Alaska project director, energy engineer, commercial fisherman, and wellness advocate. Accomplishments such as completing six Ironman triathlons and five 1,000-mile dog sled races form the cornerstone of Katherine’s philosophy of generating grit through overcoming real-time obstacles.

Debbie Moderow

Debbie Clarke Moderow’s Fast Into the Night: A Woman, Her Dogs, and their Journey North on the Iditarod Trail recounts her Iditarod adventures and explores her deep and inextricable bond with her Alaskan huskies. Her memoir was awarded the 2016 National Outdoor Book Award in Outdoor Literature and the 2017 WILLA Award in Creative Nonfiction. Debbie received an MFA in Creative Writing from Pacific Lutheran University (2013.) In ongoing writing—and mushing adventures—she celebrates wild places in this changing world.

Kristin Knight Pace

Kristin Knight Pace is a veteran of the Iditarod and Yukon Quest 1,000-mile sled dog races. She is also a pilot and the author of a memoir, This Much Country. She lives in Bettles, Alaska with her husband, two children and three retired sled dogs. You can follow her on instagram @kristinknightpace.
