PORTFOLIO REVIEWS

Art Director Laurent Linn will be offering  five 15 minute face-to-face portfolio reviews during the conference.

To register for a portfolio review:

• Select this option on your conference registration.
• Prepare 5-10 images in a single PDF from your portfolio that you want reviewed, or send your website link. If you send only a PDF, please also provide a link to your illustrator website if you have one for the faculty to review if they wish.
• Make sure your file includes your name and contact information.
• Submit the file with the subject "Conference portfolio review" to Jena Lasley at alaska-ic@scbwi.org
• All portfolio reviews must be submitted no later than midnight Saturday, August 31, 2024.
• Cost: $75

JURIED ART SHOW

Prompt: “Well, maybe it started that way. As a dream, but doesn’t everything?”

Who can enter? ANYONE in the state of Alaska, not just attendees of the conference, and it is a HUGE opportunity for Alaskan illustrators to get their work in front of editors, agents, and authors looking for an illustrator. 

Here’s what you need to do: Create 1 piece inspired by the prompt.  Submit only your BEST work and stay true to yourself!

CRITERIA: The name of the game is CHILDREN’S BOOKS.  This is not a fine art show.  Our select judges will be looking for dynamic pieces that also fit into the realm of books for young readers.

Winners: Two categories: Best in Show and People’s Choice.  (Best in Show wins a $50 Visa gift card; and People’s Choice wins a $25 Visa gift card.)

PORTFOLIO DISPLAY

IF you are registered for the conference, you may also submit ONE portfolio for display for free (NO original art!).  There is no contest for Portfolios this year.  Details on what to submit are here on the SCBWI website.  You will still need to register for this as well.

We would appreciate it if you'd let us know by September 15th so we know how many tables we will need.  We really hope you are going to show your work. We'd hate for you to miss out.

We do not accept responsibility for artwork, lost or damaged, during the weekend.

Artwork will be displayed all day Saturday at the conference.
